Light floor tile forms a restrained grid around a freestanding tub and a glass shower. The shower partition has a dark, vertically ribbed face, providing a clear reference point in both wider views. A third picture looks down at the same floor beside the tub. The room's strong lines come from the meeting of the large floor pieces, the glass enclosure and the vertical partition rather than from an elaborate tile pattern.
The photographs show the finished tile faces, not the materials behind them. For a similar wet area, the substrate and a continuous waterproofing system must be planned together, including corners, penetrations and any niche or bench. Tile and grout alone are not the waterproof layer. Which board, membrane and drain system to use depends on the conditions and manufacturer instructions.
A good layout considers more than the center of one wall. On a similar job the installer can check the position of the tub, the shower opening and the fixtures before deciding where whole pieces and cuts should land. It is also worth checking the floor and walls for square. Those decisions depend on actual measurements, which are not supplied with these photos.
If the work includes a tiled shower floor, the support below it and the finished tile need a slope appropriate to the drain assembly. Smaller mosaic pieces can accommodate a sloping surface differently from broad tiles. Movement at changes of plane, penetrations and perimeter edges also needs a suitable detail. The visible finish alone cannot establish how any of these elements were built.
Grout shade, texture and width affect the look of the finished surface, but a picture cannot identify the product or confirm whether sealing is needed. Use the tile and grout makers' cleaning and maintenance directions rather than assuming every surface is treated alike. We have left the unrecorded materials and preparation in the job sheet open for confirmation.
