Veined commercial tile floor

Large, light-colored tiles form a clear grid across the floor in these views. Gray and warm veining runs across the polished faces, while the fine joints give the floor a quieter structure. A floor plan starts with the surface underneath. On a concrete slab, an installer normally checks for moisture, cracks, flatness and material that could interfere with a bond. A crack or movement joint needs an appropriate treatment rather than simply being hidden by tile. The right preparation depends on the conditions found on site and on the setting system selected for the job.

Large tiles make the direction of the joints easy to see. For a similar installation, it helps to plan from the main sightline and check the cuts at walls, doorways and fixed objects before setting begins. Flatness matters when tiles have broad faces. Suitable mortar, coverage and attention to the edges help limit uneven transitions between neighboring pieces. Back-buttering may be appropriate for large-format tile, subject to the manufacturer's directions and the substrate. A leveling system can assist with alignment, but it is not a substitute for preparing the floor or checking coverage.

Grout color changes how clearly the grid reads. The pictures are not enough to confirm the grout product or joint width, so those details are left open. Movement accommodation at the perimeter and at relevant changes in the substrate also needs a plan. Cleaning and any sealing should follow the actual tile and grout manufacturer's care instructions.
